I have to say that they nailed this movie handsome expedient.
Basically all it does is disclose the account of what happened in Mogadishu on October 3, 1993. They didn’t focus on character detail that remarkable which to me is a qualified thing. There are unbiased too many people eager to go into detail with them all. Going into too noteworthy detail on distinct characters and not others would choose away what some did and would lessen their sacrifice. So, they stuck to objective the chronicle. Respectable disappear.
They compressed the chronicle some, changed a few names, and merged some characters into one character This was done to pick up the narrative down to a movie time frame and to protect definite characters identities as they are mild serving.

No movie based on a book is as detailed as the book. Don’t ask it to be. You should read the book as well.
Some critics have said that it is arrangement too violent of a film. Did they know they were going to seek a movie about combat? Hello!!?!! It’s about time that film makers have started making movies to point to the American public what really happens in combat. Combat is not one guy running around killing people by the hundreds with a head band on. They made it a staunch as you could acquire it on the shroud. Saving Private Ryan started it off and now Dim Hawk Down. To Jerry Bruckheimer and Ridley Scott, Bravo! Well Done!
It’s very legal as far as weapons, equipment, uniforms, etc. They ragged the genuine helicopters that were dilapidated in the novel mission in 1993 with the 160th Waft.

The whole movie I was searching for inaccuracies. Want to know what I came up with? They had their names written in marker on their Kevlar helmets (this was done so the audience could quick philosophize who’s who) we wrote our names on the helmet band. The chin straps on the Kevlar helmets were not taped up (As soon as I got to Ranger Battalion we had to taped up and tie down sure pieces of equipment and this was one of them), they wore dog note silencers (in Ranger Battalion I was told to catch them off and tape em up with 100 MPH tape as soon as I got there), and sometimes they said each others names on the radios instead of call signs (once again this was done for the audience) . So as you can view I was really reaching there.
Certain shots were unprejudiced extraordinary for me. For example, there was a point of concept shot from the side of a MH-6 Dinky Bird (we faded to hasten out on the sides of those things all the time) . The camera was positioned as to be a person sitting on the left side of the chopper looking to the front. In front of the chopper is another Runt Bird fully loaded with guys. The sequence is them going in for a landing on the street. Honest watching it reminded me of all those times I rode on those […things].
Maybe someday people will launch to conception what people in combat arms go through.

This is a phenominal film. I’m shaded to say that I was fairly oblivious to the conflict in Somalia… I was working 3rd shift and sleeping during the day in 1993 when this incedent took position. This film could not have been more timely in its release… when long dormant patriotism has been brought to the forefront of every American’s thoughts.
Now that we’ve been attacked on our possess soil, conflicts overseas seem that noteworthy more proper to us.
In 1993, the Islamic leader and warlord of Somalia, Muhammad Farrah Aidid, led with terror and tyranny. His henchmen were equipped with what appeared to be limitless weapons — stout machine guns, shoulder rockets, pistols, and many automatic and semi-automatic weapons. They enlist even the youngest and most innocent of their populace to wait on them notice and hold in constant contact via cell phone. Aidid stopped international serve from reaching his fill people, killing 300,000 by starvation and the onslaught of civil war.
Washington sent in their military forces to hold Aidid from power and to prevent the Somali people from having to endure more suffering under Aidid’s iron steal. Sadly, Washington didn’t want to “behold too dramatic” and denied military requests for C130 gun ships and other heavy artillery that certainly would have made a large disagreement on the outcome of this event.
Army Rangers, pilots, medics, the celebrated Delta Force, the pride of America was there, fighting for the freedom of a people they did not know.
This film is the realistic portrayal of the events that led to the deaths of 19 U.S. servicemen… but it’s not honest a shoot ‘em up movie. You feel like you’re there, with them. What should have been a mission that was to last only 30 minutes, lasted longer than anyone imagined when a single Somali soldier downs a Shadowy Hawk rotor with a shoulder-launched rocket… and the Ranger motto, “no one gets left slow,” is tested to the limits.
There are some comical moments to wreck the tension, but the majority of the film is a stressful experience where you are literally at the edge of your seat to gaze what happens next.
The 19 servicemen that are killed range the gamut from 18 year conventional enlistees to First Sergeants with years of service… and none of them dies in a lovely plan. If you are made queasy by blood, beware… this is a bloody film… and there are a number of scenes that will beget you gasp in fright. Some of these guys were hit by rockets… burned and blown apart… it’s honest bad, but sadly… it’s reality. We usually objective hear some sterile figures on CNN how a particular number of soldiers were shot, stepped on land mines, etc… but we don’t glimpse what really happened and that’s when we become very unexcited from reality and raze up sympathizing with the people (often our enemies) we notice in easier-to-stomach scenes of children living in squalor as a result of conflict, maligning Americans against their hold military. Please price the rating of this film and reflect it thoughtfully before considering bringing a child. The gore is horrific and the scenes are really too intense for young ones.
For those who like shoot-em-ups and explosions, you won’t be disappointed. The special effects are amazing… there are a few scenes in the movie in which you feel like ducking as it appears a missile is ready to whiz upright over your shoulder. The sound is unbelievable… you can hear and feel the bullets whizzing by and you can hear the klinking of shells falling at your feet. The foley artists on this film are to be commended.
Hans Zimmer delivers a extraordinary and complimentary find to the movie… along with the sounds of African children singing and some rock-n-roll to boot… it’s a nice soundtrack.
Ridley Scott reminds us once again his flair for delivering crisp, intellectual scenes that are riveting, inviting and sharp all at the same time.
Watching this film is an emotional and intense experience that will leave you tired when it’s over… but images from the camouflage will replay in your head several times. These soldiers trained hard to become Rangers and to be allotment of the Delta Force… these are young men that know what dangers await them and they go in with their eyes wide inaugurate… and they are prepared to defend their buddies with their lives. In many ways, this film is a monument to their strength, their courage and their loyalty. Those 19 men should not be forgotten. This film is also a testament to the necessity of properly arming and equipping our soldiers so that they have the best protection needed when engaged in conflict and worrying less about appearances and more about protecting American lives, both military and civilian.
I highly recommend this film.

I am one of the rare “Smallville” fans that greatly retract the darker seasons of slow to the light-hearted, freak-of-the-week seasons that the point to started with. Season 8 introduced the respectable Tess Mercer (as excellently portrayed by Cassidy Freeman) who filled the shoes of an MIA Lex Luthor with more charisma and grace than, dare I say it, the huge Michael Rosenbaum in the past couple seasons. Also among the characters this year is Davis “Doomsday” Bloome, who is taken to the next level by Sam Witwer, who plays the role in such a method that the viewers can actually sympathize for the tortured, lonely murderer that Davis has unfortunately become.

There are only two problems that I have with season 8. The first is that around episodes 8.03-8.05, the exhibit lagged. A lot. The episodes, I opinion, were quite dreary and fair not the best work that the “Smallville” writers have effect forth. Specifically 8.03 “Toxic,” which could’ve been a astonishing exploration of Justin Hartley’s Oliver “Green Arrow” Queen character but ended up being a bland, practical snorefest.
The second quandary is the Lana-arc in episodes 8.10-8.14. While 8.10 “Bride,” 8.11 “Legion,” and 8.12 “Bulletproof” were all outstanding and Kristin Kreuk delivered on every front in her reprisal as Lana Lang, the storyline of giving Lana orderly powers was extremely unwelcome to most fans (myself included) and, if anything, ruined what could’ve been a perfect demolish to the lengthy Clark/Lana storyline that has terrified “Smallville” since the first episode. 8.14 “Requiem” is a grand episode, mind you, but the poorly done tidy!Lana storyline brings it and 8.13 “Power” down as the worst episodes of the season.

Now, there are definitely some blockbuster episodes that were perfect, in my eyes. The entire slew of episodes from 8.15 to 8.21 were knowing - specifically 8.15 “Wrong,” 8.16 “Turbulence” (a gleaming and emotionally raw exploration of the characters - specifically Jimmy Olsen), 8.18 “Eternal,” and 8.21 “Injustice.” Watching this season, I was in fright at how noteworthy the actors and actresses - and their characters - have grown since they were first introduced to us and I have yet to be disappointed by the work turned in by the extraordinary Tom Welling, the outstanding Allison Mack, and the handsome Erica Durance.
Overall, I highly recommend that unique viewers find this season when its on sale and all “Smallville” fans should choose this boxset as soon as it’s released. As we enter season 9, which may very well be our last “Smallville” season, I have high hopes that the note will kick it into high gear and go out with a bang.
I’ve been tuning into Smallville since Episode 1, and have been a fan of Superman since I was a runt kid.
Smallville is one of the greatest interpretations of Superman ever created in any type of medium (laughable book, TV, etc.) And I was disappointed to survey that Smallville Season 8 only received an average rating of 3.5 stars.
Most of the lower rated reviews include complaints about how the display is starting to lose credibility with it’s laughable counterpart. In other words it doesn’t tie into the amusing book that well, the finale of Season 8 was anti climactic, how the writing is starting to dwindle, so on so forth.
Smallville is an INTERPRETATION of the laughable book memoir. It is NOT the laughable book itself. So to bash Season 8 because it doesn’t tie in to the laughable that well is radiant droll, cause there have been apparent changes from the droll book since Season 1. And if you are a long time fan of Smallville, why bash season 8 for something that’s been going on since .. well .. forever?
Smallville has always stayed moral to the basics of the Superman mythos. Clark and Lex are enemies. Lois and Clark will drop in care for. Clark will become Superman, etc.
And I don’t bear for a second that Lex is truly stupid. And if he is then damn the writers to hell. Although it is highly unlikely that Rosenbaum will return to the cast of Smallville, I am for clear we have not heard the last from Lex. He cant be uninteresting … arrive on … he’s Lex Luthor.
The writers have done an unbelievable job picking up from Season 7. Despite the loss of Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor), they serene do a substantial job of tying in Lex to the myth without actually having him on mask.
Tess Mercer fills in for Lex as the current CEO for Luthercorp. Fair grand the novel “unpleasant guy” to give Clark and his friends a hard time. And although Lex is missed (A LOT!!!) She’s gracious. Nuff said.
Also in this season we are treated with the ever growing romance between Lois and Clark. Adore is in the air in season 8! (Is worship ever NOT in the air? ) But I have always admired Smallville for it’s character development, especially with Clark’s fancy interests (well mostly Lana) . But Lois and Clark are as equally intoxicating to witness as Lana and Clark in previous seasons.
Erica Durance plays the best Lois Lane I have ever seen. She nails her personality flawlessly. Naive, cocky, outrageous, Clarks opposite … his perfect match.
And what about the final battle between Doomsday in the Season Finale? What about it? Nothing short of … awesome can you say? Many complained that the battle was too short and anti climactic. It depends on how you perceive it. In my understanding, the battle had started the day Clark met Davis Bloome (Doomsday) . It wasn’t the physical battle so worthy as it was the emotional battle that Clark went through, and the writers did a pleasurable job presenting it.
Can Clark overcome the beast without killing him?
Time and time again through Season 8, Clark is tempted by his friends, and even his fellow heroes that sometimes the only device to place the day is to end. That killing is a sacrifice a hero has to develop once in a while to abet the greater valid of mankind.
But Clark shows why he isn’t a hero. He shows why he is a superhero. He can originate the decisions that no one else can accomplish, not even heroes like Green Arrow. That there is always a device to do the world without crossing the line, and that a life is a life no matter who it may be.
Season 8 is awesome, and even after 8 years, Smallville has not lost its quality when compared with previous seasons. The drive of the display, the ambition of the display has remained the same.
If you are a fan of Smallville don’t compare it to other mediums of Superman, but worship as is.
If you do you wont be disappointed. 5 stars.

Under the assumed identity of “Joe Black,” he samples all the pleasures that corporeal life has to offer–power, romance, sex, and such enticing pleasures as peanut butter by the spoonful.
But Death has a job to do, and Meet Joe Black addresses the heart-wrenching dilemma that arises when either father or daughter (the plot keeps us gussing) must confront his or her inevitable demise. The film takes its own sweet time to establish this emotional crisis and the love that binds Hopkins’s semidysfunctional family so closely together. But if you’ve stuck with the story this far, you may find yourself surprisingly affected. And if Meet Joe Black has really won you over, you’ll more than appreciate the care and affection that gives the film a depth and richness that so many critics chose to ignore. –Jeff Shannon

Monsoon Wedding is a return to form for Mira Nair, director of 1988’s Salaam Bombay! Nair’s gift for observation of the everyday and her love for her characters make for a delightful film, which spins a web of family relationships that knit and break during a wedding at a perfect pace. The third of Eric Rohmer’s Four Seasons romances follows the indecision of a young man who juggles three women during his final summer between school and work. Drifting along the beaches of Brittany while waiting for his commitment-shy girlfriend, Lena, to meet him, Gaspard (Melvil Poupaud of Diary of a Seducer) becomes fast friends with pretty waitress Margot (Amanda Langlet, the grown-up Pauline of Pauline at the Beach a decade earlier) and has a fling with Margot’s aggressive and sexy friend Solene before Lena finally shows. By then, Gaspard has inadvertently committed himself to all three women. It’s a lovely portrait of awkwardness and ambivalence set against the gorgeous land and seascape of Brittany, and populated by pretty young performers.
This, the most understated of Rohmer’s sex farces, carries a bittersweet sting, but little of the emotional effervescence of his best films. While these characters are no less pretentious or vulnerable than his other lovers (who all seem to be emotionally at sea), Rohmer just skims the surface of their emotional revelation. His greatest achievement is the evocation of young adults caught between their teens and 20s, with little real experience but full of easily sidelined ideals. In the best Rohmer tradition, the circular conversations and solipsistic monologus are neither glib nor pretentious, merely the immature but sincere ramblings of vulnerable youth playing adult games. –Sean Axmaker
